I think that the joomla wiki is chaotic, i like more the MODx, it seems more easy to serf by newbies, because it has a familiar website view.  YiannisK

I think we should discuss about the sections and categories ...

I mentioned some of them ... So do you have any another suggestion ? Are they good or not ?

really have you all seen this http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Category:Documentation  ? it is not missing anything of elxis basics and can be expanded by adding more, like video tutorials..howto etc. but our main target for the moment was the basics. some cats-section maybe wants renaming: "start with elxis" or "beginners guide"? etc.

in front page can't put all these cats(from that page) but is wise to choose eg. beginners-guide | developers|security | administrators with link to according cats.

joomla is chaotic i agree , i mention it's look.

i tried to make cats easily expanded in the future this must be a rule and we must not avoid it!

i disagree with cat "frontend" but datahell mention it so i created till people see and approve it or not. personally i think it is not needed. also cant have:

"bridges" no use any more but i can create this cat and redirect it to a message which will explain to visitors etc. and this because it still exists to elxis admin.

bots modules comps etc.

i think that must be include in a container like a have it now.. in cat extensions this is useful especially when we want to link from inside our articles(to all) and is better to have them this way cause there are and will be more non-core modules etc. the 3rd-party-modules comps bots.

many top level categories isn't good lets asign them to 1-toplevel the extensions category!

this way later(what a dump people don't now wiki) we will use Semantic extension to make charts about compatibility trough versions, short by date/type/elxis or 3rdparty/ and much more

Ps put your signuture+date simple by pressing the one before the end editor's button ... it prints --~~~~ no matter just save!it will be converted!

Simple example of a frontpage

this is an example... it can contains images and text or only images to guide people to where we want with out messing out our doc... links there can show up directly the category-listing or a page to introduce the category

category Documentation must be very well structured and flexible to feature category additions. can be or not visible to visitor, by redirecting it to a page that we can reassign cat-order and omitt if we want some cats in order to make it more human(cat listing is not easy to format) .. this is a wiki and it behaves like this.

my intention is to create a page, that should appear to visitors as the "Full documentation Page" in many wikis this is a very common strategy especially when we want to list cats with intro text beside them! or our top-level category has many subcategories that will confuse people!

it is not clever to put all articles in a box.. this is not a lottery to choose and pickup! Documentation team must have the flexibility of a well structured and correct splited sub-cat structure. that will need all experience wiki users. unexperienced user must be guided to the right way!

Newbies cant guide our docs but must be guided to our docs like the above example!

It is very clever to look forward ...in 2-3 years, if this wiki keep going, i am sure that many articles will be written and thematology maybe expanded. We must have all this in our mind.

users must thing of all these above and make any suggestion .... or request changes. till now none else except farhard made a suggestion...or any other discussion this post is not an answer to his suggestion but some general notices .

general conclusion : do not worry about structure on frontpage but the real structure behind it, none of the big wikis follows the real structure in frontpage but split it , . check it!

- i am waiting suggestions for things such: renaming cats or link them to more than one top-level cats Adding cats .. well this can be done in the future.. if top cats are well organized, farhard suggest tutorials & howtos(they will be). any one else?
