Elxis 2009.2+ is shipped with 2 great link sharing services, E-mailit and AddThis. E-mailit and AddThis allows your site visitors to add any link on your web site to social network sites. These 2 services are integrated into the Elxis CMS as content bots, so you dont have to install any third party extension to use them. By default these bots are published but their general setting is not to display a sharing icon as new Elxis users might find it hard on how to hide them if they dont want to use them.

E-mailit

E-mailit, is an excellent link sharing tool by Nikitas Georgopoulos with automatic language detection, SSL support, multiple button instances inside the same page support and many other cool features. Elxis CMS supports officially e-mailit and we suggest you to give it a try. Visit e-mailit.com to learn more or get help for this service.

Setting up the bot

From the Elxis administration menu select Bots -> Site bots. Click on Share - E-mailit bot to edit its parameters. Make sure the bot is published and set the default display option for e-mailit. If set to Show, then e-mailit will be visible for all content items and autonomous pages except for those that you have set exclusively not to display it (we will talk about this later on). If you set the default display option to Hide the opposite will happen (e-mailit will be hidden for all content items and autonomous pages except for those that you have set exclusively to display it). By default Elxis has this option to Hide. Set it as you wish.

Individual settings for specific content items

You can show or hide e-mailit icon to specific content items and autonomous pages overriding the default display setting if you wish. On the content items edit page and on the parameters tab you will find an E-mailit option. If you set it to Hide, e-mailit will not be displayed for that content items despite if you have set it to be displayed to all content items in its general setting. The opposite will happen if you select Show. The Global value option will make elxis to decide whether to display or not the e-mailit icon based on the bot's general setting.

AddThis

AddThis bot uses the link sharing service provided by addthis.com web site. AddThis is the world leader sharing service. The Bot's functionality is identical to the E-mailit one with the exception that it has one more parameter, the username. If you have an account at addthis.com fill in your account's username. This parameter is optional.
