What is Elxis?

What i need to start using Elxis?
Elxis minimal requirements to install and start adding content is:
- webserver like Apache, Lighttpd and others with PHP version 5.x.x or later enabled.
- DataBase to store data, currently fully supported databases are MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle.
I don't know coding, can i use Elxis to design my own webpage?
Elxis cms requires no knowledge on programming languages. Elxis internal functions and extensions enabled by default are able to do for you all those you need in order to publish your content online in minutes. You can very easily and quickly create pages, format text, add images, embed videos and much more!

Can Elxis support multiply Languages ?
Elxis is an authentic multilingual content management system that allows you to shape the form and content of your webpage, accordingly to the language of the visitor. Moreover, Elxis is equipped with full UTF-8 support. Elxis multilingual and language handling capabilities are unique. Also, Elxis 2008 is fully compatible with reverse-direction written languages (RTL), like Arabic or Hebrew.
The module that is for language change has been updated and is now equipped with a new "Smart Switch" (*) that allows the language to change while remaining in the same page. All the system messages as well as the date and time, are multilingual in the 2008 version.
RSS feeds became also multilingual in version 2008. This means that you can distribute RSS feeds in various languages and third party webpages, in the appropriate language.
(*) Changing language and remaining in the same webpage is possible, if the requested webpage is available in the new language.

Is Elxis capable to host a high-trafficked website with big amounts of data?
Yes, with a properly optimized mysql installation, the enable of gzip compression and of Static Cache Elxis can handle extremely heavy loaded web sites very well. You might also use a server cache system like APC although Elxis' Static Cache can make web pages load up to 80% faster which is a great save and you might not need APC.

Does Elxis support multiply levels of user access ?
Elxis has an hierarhical structure of user groups. In each user group a set of permissions is assigned. You can add, edit or delete user groups as well as set their permissions over elxis via the Access manager. By default Elxis comes with the following predefined user groups:
Groups with access only to Front-end: Public Frontend, Registered, Author, Editor, Publisher
Groups with access to Backend: Public Backend, Manager, Administrator, Super Administrator

Is Elxis Secure and safe for my data?
Elxis Team main effort and priority is the security. Elxis core is written from scratch following the simple rules of flexibility, expandability and security! Elxis Core has designed in a way that needs no webserver risky settings. Beside this a unique characteristic of elxis is the Defender, a guard who watches every suspicious movement and takes action by blocking the attack and informing administrators immediately!
Also many Security mechanisms are applied to several parts of elxis cms frontend and Administration area,
including login cloak(hide login page), email cloak(hide emails from spamers) and others.

Can Elxis backup and store my site?
Yes it can. You can backup your site, easily, using the "Database Manager" found in the Administration control panel. This tool gives you the ability to backup your site in 2 different ways: SQL or XML. Also, there is an option to save your backup on the server or download the backup file locally on your pc.

Can Elxis manage multiply sites in one installation?
No. Elxis isn't a framework! Elxis is an Cms(Content Management System) which designed to host one website per installation.
But you can install multiply websites on the same webserver using one installation per website!
