Free updates
Is Open Source provides free updates to update software between versions of the same generation, for example from version 1.0 to 1.1, from 1.2 to 1.2, etc. Especially for IOS Eshop Is Open Source provides for free the update from versions 1.0/1.1/1.2 to 2.0. v1.x owners should download the update patch from within their IOS Eshop control panel.
Before you begin
Turn your site offline and take a full back up (files + database). Is Open Source is not responsible for any damages you may do on your site. The update will update all IOS Eshop files including the template's css and images. Your data (products, images, etc) will stay intact. The only thing that will not be updated are the products extra fields and the discount coupons. Your old extra fields (if any) will be removed from the database. This is because the extra fields functionality on version v2.0 was changed dramatically. So, after the update your products will NOT have extra fields and you will have to re-enter them by editing all of the products you wish to have extra fields. In order to gain some of v2.x functionality you will have to edit your products or other areas. For example if you wish to have different price, discount or VAT per shoppers group you have to edit your products.

Update file system
To update eshop v1.2 file system to version 2.0 you have to apply the patch IOS gave you. This is a zip package. To apply the patch just upload it to your Elxis's root folder and unzip it. If you dont have the unzip option then just upload the file via FTP replacing the old ones. Make sure all files where updated.
Update database and program logic
IOS has developed a special script that will do automatically the hard task to update your database. Do not ever try to update manually I0S Eshop database, you will destroy the shop's inner logic. The script is very easy to use and informs you about the changes it performs on every step. Upload the script (eshopupdate20.php) on your Elxis site root folder and visit it with your browser. The various actions are performed in steps. Click Next until all steps are complete. You can any time go back or re-try a step. If you can not pass successfully a step contact IOS for support. When finish delete the update script.

Now what?
Many-many things have been changed on IOS Eshop v2.0, so don't turn back online your site exactly after the update. You have at least to update IOS Eshop configuration. Login to Elxis administration and navigate to IOS Eshop configuration. Check cautiously all the configuration parameters and set the proper values. Many new options have been added and some have been removed, so be careful. Click save to update the configuration. Navigate to the other administrative pages and perform any actions needed (for example add product types, ashoppers groups, extra fields in products, more images, etc). When ready turn your site back online.
