Shipping methods are the ways you deliver purchased tangible items to your customers. Depending on the country you live in and the available ways, you can create a list of shipping methods from which the customer will choose in order to receive the purchased goods. The shipping methods are, as for the payment methods, based on a modular system. So, you can create unlimited copies of each shipping module, each one having it's own parameters. There are 4 general purpose shipping modules (don't confuse them with the Elxis modules) pre-installed, these are:
- Without shipping
- Flat rate
- Based on order amount
- Hellenic Postal Service (ELTA)
Shipping methods can be edited, published, unpublished and deleted through the shipping methods list page. You must select one method as the default one. You can choose which methods will be published and therefore visible to
the customers, and the module they are filed under. You can also choose the Without Shipping method, in
case the customers can acquire the goods directly from your shop, by their own means.

Flat rate
With the Flat rate shipping module you can create almost any shipping variation. The shipping cost calculation is based on the ordered products total weight. There is also an option to have free shipping for orders over a specific amount of money. Finally there is an excess weight option over which shipping cost is standard.
You can create up to 10 Weight/Price pairs for the calculation of the shipping cost. You should fill in at least one pair and also fill-in the excess weight pair in order to be sure that the shipping method will be able to handle any weight. To disable any field just set it's value to 0.00.
Usage instructions
1. Name your shipping method what ever you like (i.e. Shipping to Germany using DHL courier).
2. Add a short description in order customers to be able to select the appropriate shipping method and read if shipping with this method is supported for their home address.
3. Add a free limit order amount over which shipping cost is free (leave it to 0.00 if you don't want to use this option). Example: 150.00
4. Starting from the smaller weight and ascending, add up to 10 pairs of Weight/Price. For instance:
Weight 1=5.00, Price 1= 8.40
means that for total order products weight up to 5.00 (kgr/lbs) the shipping cost will be 8.40 (EUR, USD, GBP, etc). If weight is more than 5.00 then eshop will check the next pair.
5. Fill-in the weight/price pair values for the excess weight option. Example:
Weight= 20.00, Price= 64.10
means that if ordered products total weight is 20.01 or more the shipping cost will be 64.10 (EUR, USD, GBP, etc).
Based on order amount
This module is very likely to the Flat Rate one except that the shipping amount calculation is not based on total weight of the ordered tangible goods but on total order amount.
Usage instructions
1. Name your shipping method what ever you like (i.e. Shipping to Germany using DHL courier).
2. Add a short description in order customers to be able to select the appropriate shipping method and read if shipping with this method is supported for their home address.
3. Starting from the smaller cart amount and ascending, add up to 5 pairs of Cart/Price. For instance:
Cart amount 1=20.00, Price 1= 4.50
means that for total order amount up to 20.00 (EUR, USD, GBP, etc) the shipping cost will be 4.50 (EUR, USD, GBP, etc). If cart amount is more than 20.00 then eshop will check the next pair.
4. Fill-in the cart/shipping amount pair values for the Over limit cart amount option. Example:
Over limit cart Amount= 100.00, Price= 12.00
means that if total order amount is 100.01 or more the shipping cost will be 12.00 (EUR, USD, GBP, etc).
ELTA
The ELTA (Hellenic Postal Service) shipping module does an automatic calculation of the order's shipping amount based on the purchased goods total weight and the customer's country. The prices used for the calculation are the ELTA's January 2010 official prices. Notice that the module calculates the shipping cost based on the weight of the ordered products and not on their total volume which might generates a slightly different cost. The module should be used only on shop's companies having Greece as base.
Without shipping
Many online shops use also to deliver for free the purchased goods. Use the No/Without shipping module to create such shipping methods.
