Gift certificates differs to discount coupons in the way they are been generated. A Gift certificate is been generated when a customer pays via a special form that looks like the Open Payment form. In that form the customer enters the gift certificate value and the name/e-mail of the user he wants to send it. After the completion of the (open) payment the gift certificate is being activated and is being sent to the final recipient as a gift from the customer that initiated the procedure. The recipient can use the Gift Certificate to shop from the shopping cart anything he wishes.
On the Discount coupons page, in IOS Eshop administration panel, a special icon (gift box) indicates that Gift Certificates. You can also see the payment in which it was generated and the order that was used (if it is has been used).
Gift certificates have the same functionality as the discount coupons on IOS Eshop. They subtract an amount (coupon value) from the total order amount. Note that if the Gift certificate's value exceeds the order total amount, the remaining value can not be used for a future order.
