Backing up your database data

Backups are a must unless you don’t care about your time or your site!!!

This does not backup the Elxis program or files that you added afterwards from your server, you must do that separately using your hosting utilities for File Backup. See File Backup

All of the website data that you enter is saved in a database. To back up this data use the database manager.

To perform a backup:
Select database manager -> manage database -> dump database tab
select SQL and DOWNLOAD then SQL BACKUP.

That will create a file and start the downloader of your browser. Save the file on your system.

This file as all files used by Elxis are UTF-8 encoded for multi-language usage and should be opened or edited using ONLY a UTF-8 capable editor.

Store the backup of your finished site, that is, the actual Elxis program files from your server on your pc or on other backup media.

With each database backup, you may want to keep the backup of at least different periods so that you can always fallback to a previous one if something went wrong.
